Welcome to the Massachusetts Council of Nonprofits

We Are a Voice for the Nonprofit Sector.

The Massachusetts Council of Nonprofits (MCN) is a statewide organization that brings together all parts of the nonprofit ecosystem — from nonprofits to funders, community and business leaders, and elected officials — to help nonprofits grow and raise the sector’s voice on critical issues. We understand that strong nonprofits build strong communities. It is our mission to unite and strengthen the nonprofit sector through advocacy, programming, resources, and communications.

Advocacy

MCN's advocacy efforts focus on policy issues affecting nonprofits across the state. Our ongoing advocacy work seeks to strengthen nonprofit and government partnerships, ensure fair tax policy and accountability, support innovation and talent, and increase philanthropy, volunteerism, and civic engagement. We also host Public Policy Forums, which bring government leaders and MCN members together for candid conversations about issues impacting the sector.

Member Testimonials

Hear from some of our members about what MCN membership means to them.

As an Executive Director at a small nonprofit, being a member of MCN helps me stay connected to important issues affecting nonprofits at the state level while providing valuable resources, training, and a supportive community of peers. Their advocacy ensures that smaller organizations have a voice and the information we need to better serve our community.

First Nonprofit’s membership with MCN has been invaluable in deepening our relationships and expanding our reach with mission-driven organizations across the state. Through this partnership, we’ve been able to connect with Massachusetts nonprofits and help them free up resources for their missions.
